Contest Details

Brief Overview

Recipes must contain two or more of the specified authentic ingredients from Spain (olive oil, cheese, jamón serrano, olives, pimentón, piquillo peppers, saffron, sherry wine vinegar).

Recipes don't have to be Spanish in nature.

Tapas recipes can be sweet or savory.

Entrants may submit as many recipes as they like.

All entries must be original recipes that have not been previously published.

All entries become the property of Foods from Spain.

Recipes must be in English.

No purchase necessary to enter.

Who May Enter/Eligibility

The Tapas from Coast to Coast Recipe Contest is for Professional Chefs and Culinary Students.  The "Promotion/Contest" is open only to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States (including District of Columbia) who are at least eighteen (18) years old as of June 1, 2007.

Entrants must be culinary professionals (this only includes teachers of culinary arts, professional chefs, pastry chefs, sous chefs, or lead line cooks at restaurants and other commercial foodservice establishments, professional caterers and professional recipe developers) and culinary students (individuals who are currently enrolled as full time student in a culinary school).

When to Enter

The Promotion begins on June 1, 2007 at 12:00 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time ("EDT") and ends on August 31, 2007 at 11:59 p.m. EDT (the "Promotion Period"). Administrator's computer is the official time keeping device for this Promotion. Submissions will not be accepted after this time.

How to Enter

During the Promotion Period, fill out the online entry form and submit a simple, delicious tapas recipe that prominently features two or more of the required ingredients

Submissions will only be accepted via this Web site and must be in English.

Judging Criteria

Recipes will be judged using these criteria:

  1. Effective use of specified Spanish ingredients (20%)
  2. Simplicity (20%)
  3. Originality (20%)
  4. Taste (20%)
  5. Appearance (20%)

Award Notification

Professional Cook-Off Finalists will be notified by phone, email or mail on or after September 25, 2007, and posted on this Web site on or after October 2, 2007.

A complete list of Professional and Student winners and the prizes awarded will be available on this web site on or after November 1, 2007.

Cash and Sponsor prizes will be distributed on or before December 15th, 2007.

Liability

Foods from Spain, The MacKenzie Agency, the judging committees, their sponsoring organizations, and their employees, agents and assigns are released from any claim or liability of any nature whatsoever arising out of the selection, judging and awards process.

Neither Foods from Spain nor The MacKenzie Agency is responsible for lost, misdirected or incomplete mail or email.

Individual winners are solely responsible for federal, state or other tax liability.
This contest is void where prohibited by law and is subject to all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

Release

Foods from Spain reserves the right to use entrants' names, likenesses, affiliations and recipes for publicity purposes and to edit, modify, copyright and publish entries.
